Great News the 2012 Milwaukie Youth Football and Cheerleading registration is now open. As many of you know this year there is no charge to register for football or cheerleading. Please register as soon as possible as the teams fill as first come first served. And I don't want to have to turn anyone away this year. 7th and 8th grade registration will be turned off on August 12th.
New for this year 7th and 8th graders will be purchasing their own jerseys, they will be given extra fundraising to accomplish this. For football parnety parents you will not need to spend the $10 to purchase the name plate, and the player will keep the jersey. If you are a 7th grader you will be able to use your jersey the following year if it is in excellent shape and still fits.
Most of you know fundraising will be selling the raffle tickets for the Hawaii trip again. They are $10 each and football players must sell 25 tickets and cheerleaders must sell 20. 7th and 8th grade football players will sell a extra 5 tickets, and 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders will sell an extra 6 tickets. Once you are registered you will be contacted by someone from the league and you will recieve you tickets. If you sell your tickets by June 30th you will recieve $20 in gift certificates to the snack shack. If you have multiple children in the program you will recieve a 50% discount in the required tickets sold for the children beyond one. If you have questions how this will look e mail me with the the activity your children participate in. Jerseys are not included in any discount.
Flag football will sell 15 tickets.
The rumors around the NFL is the Pro Bowl will be cancelled for the 2013 season. If this happens the winner of the raffle will recieve the air, condo, rental car, and a $400 gift visa gift card for the trip.
Cheer camp has been scheduled for Saturday July 14th at Alder Creek Middle School. Times are as followes:
K-2nd grade 9:30-12:30
3rd and 4th grade 9:30-2:00
5th and 6th grade 10:00-4:30
JV and Varsity 10:30-4:30
Cost of camp is $25 dollars which will go to the cost of each girls warm-ups. at camp you will be sized for uniforms, learn first ten cheers, begin to learn dance formations, and work on all stunts for the 2012 season. JV and Varsity cheerleaders need to make sure they are at camp as this the last day to get sized for your custom uniforms. If you can't make camp you need to call Sheri Garrow at 503-560-5936 after july 1st to get your uniform sized.

I would like to take this moment to thank all the Board Members, players, cheerleaders, parents, and everyone else who sold raffle tickets over the past nine months to make this raffle a huge success. We brought in over $36,000 with a profit of over $33,000. With this and other money we spent $24,000 on new helmets, and through 2 weeks we have had no player sit for concussions (knock on wood), $7,000 on new cheer uniforms, $4,000 on new football jerseys, finally quality first aid kits, a ice machine for the snack shack. And filled in alot of equipment we have been needing. I think your coaches will agree we have the best practice equipment we have ever had, although not perfect and we will get it better.
This past Saturday we had the drawing for the trip to Hawaii which, Austin Livley who sold 57 tickets asisted by Bryan Amaya who sold 36 tickets, drew ticket number 1017 belonging to Jocque Grieve, so congratulation to Ms. Grieve.
I look forward to making this raffle bigger and better next year. We will be discussing the raffle at our January board meeting, if you have an idea or thought that is the time to provide input either in person or via e-mail. There is no doubt we still have alot of equipment to purchase begining with new shoulder pads, new high end cheer uniforms, and a building to put up at Alder Creek to put gear in.
